Any citizen of India engaged in scientific work in any of the fields mentioned above is eligible.

There is no age limit. (NO POSTHUMOUS NOMINATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED).

The Awards will normally be given for work primarily done within India and which is of relevance to India and other developing countries.

New discoveries/inventions, particularly by young upcoming scientists, would be given high consideration.
